Estimating for General Contractors

Save The Estimating Department Money!

General contractors are finding that it's not always cost effective to hire full time estimators. Especially when paying competitive wages with full benifits and trying to keep the estimators busy if no blue prints are coming in. RME can help.

We all know that contruction has its highs and lows; sometimes you have more work than you can estimate and other times you don't have enough for the next month's projections. The biggest advantage in using RME is that you can "use us or lose us," meaning you only call us when you need estimates or take-offs prepared.

When Would You Need RME?

As a general contractor you have situations when your estimators take vacations or have emergency leaves. Other times you are inbetween estimators or just need help with the work loads. Don't miss a bid! We can help. Send us your blue prints and we can either prepare a quantity take-off or an entire estimate.

Another common scenario is that sometimes general contractors need an estimator "and a half". Perhaps you have too much work for one estimator but not enough for two estimators. We can take care of that overflow for you. No matter what your esimating needs are, we have experienced, knowlegable and dependable estimators that you can trust.

RME has helped many General Contractors in crunch time, both with tempary and permant estimating services.

Other Ways We Can Help:

RME can prepare a quantity take-off which you can plug your prices into, or we can prepare a full estimate with your confidential prices on your letterhead. In some cases we can even come into your office and learn your system!

In most cases we adjust our software to meet your needs, or we simply use our basic estmating templates (see Sample Estimates) which gives you the quanity take-off and optional pricing numbers which you can change.

The Most Common Reason You Would Need RME:

Most general contractors use RME spreadsheets as guidlines for price checks. We price every division so that you have prices to compare to your subcontractors', or to work that your company performs on the project (concrete, framing ect.).

There is no better way to keep up with the fast pace competitive bidding market than by using RME.

What Software Does RME Use?

RME uses Excel software along with GTCO electronic digitizers. We feel that Excel allows the flexibility necessary for your estimate to turn out exactly how you want to see it. GTCO electronic digitizers are common in estimating. GTCO is an electronic grid with a stylet pen that enables each line of your blue prints to be accounted for electronically. This gives you the most accurate quantity take-off available.

Please see RME sample estimates, and you can decide which style best works for you, or we can create one that fits your needs.
